The Land
The owner purchased
31 acres on high land with pasture and secondary
forest, allowing for a balanced ecological development
with over seven acres of nature preserve, to be
donated in perpetuity to a nonprofit corporation.
On the nature preserve will be located a lake,
rainforest botanical garden with orchids, hummingbird
sanctuary and butterfly pavilion.
Biological corridors
have been planned throughout the property so that
howler monkeys and other tree dwellers may move
freely from one feeding area to another without
having to leave the trees. Rain water and ground
water capture systems will conserve water from
the green season for use during the dry season.
Fronting the main
road are The Oaks signature towers , some say
inspired by Gaudi, that symbolize the three species
of native oaks found in Costa Rica. Moving up
the hill, 96 luxury condominiums are offered at
value prices. Constructed of anti-seismic concrete
block stucco with cement and iron rebar, these
two bedroom two bath homes are insulated with
double-paned glass windows. The second and third
floor units offer expansive valley views, while
many of the first floor units enjoy gardens that
expand enjoyment of the outdoors.
Inside each apartment,
low flush toilets and front loading clothes washers
conserve water, while outside compact fluorescent
lighting conserves energy.
On the northern side
of the property, and bounded by a private forest
and stream, only eight private luxury villas have
been made available for construction. Each home
will be on a “lot in condominium”,
so that construction is carefully restricted on
each site to preserve the natural forest.
Above the nature preserve, eight story luxury
buildings are planned containing approximately
100 luxury condominiums with lake views, expansive
valley views, private elevators and underground
covered parking. The buildings are carefully sited
to preserve both views and open areas, which was
the primary planning consideration.
To the south, the
topography of the land rises sharply, offering
sweeping ocean vistas. This area is planned for
two ocean view towers containing approximately
70 luxury high-rise condominiums, and at the top
of the mountain, one custom two story home with
stunning ocean and mountain views.
Finally, a retail
area is planned at the lower elevation to the
south, based on a Seville plaza, with a fitness
center, storage areas, café, convenience
store, restaurant, ATM and shopping area.
